Floral Pens

Spring Is Here!!

Bring spring flowers that are also usable pens.

Materials:

• Fake flowers
• Pens (round in shape)
• wire cutters
• floral tape

Step 1:

Using the wire cutters cut the stem about 2 to 3 inches down from the flower.  Some times the wire is hard to cut, by bending it back and forth will help to break the wire off.

Step 2:

Wrap some of  floral tape around your pen. (You can also use a glue dot or hot glue to secure the tape down)

Step 3:

Place the wire stem next to the pen and wrap the floral tape around both parts.

As you see above just wrap the tape around both pen and wire stem.

Step 4:

Depending on the flower if I feel like the flower is not secure enough go back up and down again the wire stem before going all the way down.  

Keep wrapping down the pen, I usually wrap till I get to the edge of the cap, I like to keep the caps on my pens. If you feel a part is not secure just go back up and wrap around again.

Step 5:

Cut floral tape and press down.

 

(Optional glue down with glue dot or hot glue before you press down)

Done!!

Adding a Leaves

Step 1:

Cut leaf off at stem about 2 inches down.

Step 2:

Before you wrap the tape all the way down, place leaf stem next to pen and

wrap flora tape around it.

Step3:  

Keep wrapping and just like the flower cut, press down floral tape.(add glue if you want)

Done!!

Projects I have used the flower pens in.

Add it to a note book as a gift.

Put a bunch of them in a pail for a spring floral arrangement that is useful too.

How To Make Paper Flowers

Materials:

Card Stock

Glue dots (medium)

tooth pick

circle cutter

decorative scissors

Step 1:

Cut a circle out of card stock. This one is 3 inches in diameter.

I used a circle cutter but you can use punches, trace one or by hand.  I like mine 3 inches or 2 1/2 inches, but play with the sizes to see what you like the most for what you want it for.

Step 2:

Using the decorative scissors cut around the circle (when cutting into the circle start with a smaller width and grow a little bigger as you cut to the center; look at picture 3 below if you are wonder what I mean)

until you reach the center. (leave a little tab in the middle for the base of the flower, look picture below to see what it looks like.

The one on the right is the 3 inch circle the left one is 2 1/2.  I used a larger decorative scissors cut to get a different look for the petals on the left one.

Step 3:

Using the toothpick start at the outside of the flower and roll the paper around the toothpick.

(you can use a wooden dowel or anything that is skinny to roll)

Continue to roll the paper around try to keep the toothpick pointing to the center.  Try to keep the paper rolling one on top of the other not spiral up or down the toothpick.

Step 4:

You will have a tab at the end of the rolled paper, do not roll it leave it flat. This will be the base for the flower.

But first take out the toothpick and loosen or tighten the paper to your liking.(be careful)

Step 5:

After your have gotten it to your liking add a glue dot to the tab of the paper, press the rolled paper down into the tab where your glue dot is. This will be your flower base.

*Optional*

Add a glue dot to center of the rolled paper were you will see all the paper rolled up at the bottom side.

Or just hot glue the rolled paper down to the base.

 

 

*Check out option 2 if you did not do option 1. or just skip both depends on the look your going for.*

*Optional*

To Make Paper Flower More Interesting.

Use Mist or Inks to add color to your paper flowers.

Option 1: Mist

Spray mist on the flower. (do not spray as close as the picture, it's about 6 inches away) before you roll the paper up. Make sure it is completely dry.

I use a shoe box (not my idea, thanks sis) to prevent the mist from going all over my stuff. 

 To get petals different colors, cut thin strip of paper (try lace too) place on top of the flower before you spray. This will show the color of the paper and the color of the spray.

Option 2:Ink Pads

Press ink pads on the paper petals to color the edge of the flowers petals.
